EastEnders announce Danny Dyer’s return date

He's been off screens for a while

EastEnders Mick Carter has been away from Walford for a month now and things have been going very wrong in his absence.

But the show has now confirmed when Mick, aka Danny Dyer, will be returning to our screens, hopefully to save the day.

He’s set to comeback on Monday 19 May, and is immediately due to lock horns with bar manager Woody Woodward.

Woody has been sent by Linda to look after things while she and Mick are away – her caring for her sick mother, Elaine, in Watford, and Mick caring for injured daughter, Nancy, in Bulgaria.

But as the Carters’ financial woes have taken a turn for the worse with the roof collapsing and Lady Di needing an urgent operation to save her life, Woody has been instrumental in urging Shirley to sign over the freehold of The Vic to Max’s property company.

Viewers are convinced Woody’s working for them and is in on Max’s revenge plan for Walford, but are they right?

Woody also didn’t make himself very popular when he sacked Tracey from the pub, leaving the residents boycotting the place until she was reinstated.

As Mick returns to all this chaos, we can bet he’s not going to be happy with Woody’s actions. Nor that he’s lost the freehold of his beloved pub after Shirley and Linda sold it behind his back.

“Danny is going to be straight back into the thick of it when his character returns to our screens and his character Mick Carter immediately finds a new enemy,” an EastEnders source has previously told The Sun.

It was also reported there was set to be “ongoing beef between the two hard men and eventually it all kicks off.”

Danny was given a six week break from filming to sort himself out after reportedly suffering from exhaustion.

At the time it was rumoured that Danny had been forced to leave the soap, but that was denied as a spokesperson said:

“Danny is on a short break from EastEnders. This was not enforced by bosses, nor has he quit the show.”

He jetted to South Africa for an extended holiday, and has seemingly come back ready to get stuck in.

Let’s hope he can stop Max’s dastardly plan before it gets any further – and he can save Albert Square’s beloved boozer from a takeover.
