Eamonn Holmes reveals terrifying time he thought he could die

It was such a tense time for the presenter and his wife

The 57-year-old TV presenter has said in a SHOCK revelation that he could have lost his life after undergoing a double hip operation last year.

His beloved partner Ruth Langsford revealed her fears that she could “lose” Eamonn, who she married in 2010.

The presenter’s operation took place just a week after Sir Terry Wogan passed away.

Whilst speaking to the Daily Star, Holmes said: “It was a very depressing week when I had it done.

“I remember Sky News rang me and said, “Have you heard about Terry Wogan?”

He added: “And I was going under the knife that week. It was very foreboding. I was not very optimistic about the whole thing.”

He then went on to share Ruth’s concerns: “Ruth said to me, ‘Do you have to have both of them done?’ She was worried about losing me.”

However, since his successful operation in 2016, Eamonn is now fully mobile and actually went back on air just ten weeks after surgery.

After reflecting on his procedure experience, Eamonn said: “I felt like I was in a movie. Or the hospital drama Casualty.

“It was like an out-of-body experience — am I going back into my body or am I out of my body now? I didn’t know.”

He also spoke about how he had struggled with hip pain for 25 years and it even interfered with his career.

The Scot said: “I used to go running. I was a middle distance runner. I was running along in the woods one day and I just stopped. I literally could not lift my legs any more.

“The amount of work I’ve had to turn down. The number of quiz shows and news shows that want you to stand now.”

Eamonn and Ruth are one of the nation’s most loved couples.

Ruth spoke exclusively to OK! online as she discussed her relationship with her co-presenter and hubby.

The 56-year-old said: “It’s not a secret really, we’re just a very real couple. I think that’s what people respond to.”

She added: “They often say to us: ‘Oh, you’re just like me and my husband! I love the banter.'”

But, the Loose Women panellist also revealed that the pair do “bicker” now and again.

Despite sharing their work and home life together, they have still managed to maintain a happy and healthy relationship!

We love these two.
