Eamonn Holmes has threatened to sue a troll who branded him “racist” over his comments about the Duchess of Sussex.

The presenter said Meghan has an “uppy attitude” during a segment on today’s This Morning titled: ‘Is Meghan being unfairly criticised?’ amid the debate over her privacy demands.

Eamonn and his wife Ruth Langsford spoke to reporter Lainey Lui from Canada who supported Meghan’s decision saying it’s unfair that she takes the brunt of the backlash more than husband Harry.

However, Eamonn said: “You do know why it’s landing at her, if you have an uppy attitude, you’re only through the door two minutes, and suddenly you’re sitting at Wimbledon, with Royal protection people saying ‘no photographs’, you do know.

“If that was somebody in Canada, you would be writing [that] they’re right up their own backside.”

Ruth also criticised the royal couple for making their son Archie’s christening private.

However, Lainey said: “Everything that was complained about that was held back, was delivered to us,” referring to the christening photos released via Buckingham Palace.

But Eamonn said: “I think the thing I’m trying to say is, it doesn’t seem to be done in a willing, joyous, inclusive way.”

One viewer took to Twitter to criticise Eamonn’s comments.

They wrote: “Working from home so getting to see the inherent racism of the British media as personified by @EamonnHolmes & @RuthieeL who are currently unashamedly bashing Meghan Markle live on @thismorning.”

However, Eamonn wasn’t happy with the troll’s tweet and responded: “What a stupid bigoted arse you are.

“You are typical of the sort who only want your questions asked. Our job us to ask questions.

“That’s what we did and we did it very well. Call me racist again and I will sue your bigoted stupid arse off you.”

Celebrity Big Brother star India Willoughby replied: “It’s ridiculous Eamonn. Had it all week. Any criticism of Meghan – racist.”

Eamonn said: “The very idea we have to defend ourselves. The public initially loved Megan …. and Harry is sooo popular.

“Don’t shoot the messenger over such own goals. This all could so easily be turned around. They could do worse than consult a few Media people like ourselves India.”
