How is Prince George four, already?!

William and Kate’s firstborn is celebrating his birthday today – and Kensington Palace has released an official photograph to mark the occasion.

The adorable portrait sees the young royal beaming with joy, with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes.

A statement accompanying the snap on social media, posted Friday night, reads: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to share a new official portrait of Prince George to mark His Royal Highness’s fourth birthday tomorrow.

“The photograph was taken at Kensington Palace at the end of June by Chris Jackson, Getty Images Royal Photographer.”

Mr Jackson said: “I’m thrilled and honoured that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have chosen to release this portrait to celebrate Prince George’s fourth birthday.”

What a handsome – and happy – young man he is growing into.

George has been kept busy in the run-up to his celebrations, having accompanied his parents and younger sister, Princess Charlotte, two, on a tour of Poland and Germany this week.

Like father, like son, the wee royal seemed in his element as he explored a chopper at the Airbus Factory in Hamburg.

However, his smile later turned into a frown and he was captured on camera indulging in a little strop.

He wasn’t the only one either… Princess Charlotte had her own royal tantrum and got a ticking off from her mum.

His proud parents introduced him to the world on the hospital steps a day later.

And we’ve been charmed by him ever since. Happy Birthday, little Prince!
