Disgraced Corrie star hits out: ‘No-one controls me but Allah!’

He claims that he was leaving the soap anyway

| Updated:

Sacked Coronation Street star Marc Anwar has spoken out about his dismissal and claims that he was leaving anyway.

The actor was dismissed after branding Indians ‘b*****ds’ and ‘p**s-drinking c***s’ in a series of racist tweets.

The 45-year-old, who played Sharif Nazir in the ITV soap, has now said that Corrie bosses had no influence on his fate and that ‘no-one but Allah’ can control him.

After a couple of days of keeping his Twitter account private, Marc has now opened up to the world again.

He has now revealed his thoughts on the immediate termination of his soap contract.

Marc tweeted: “For the record, #marcanwar was to leave show, end of contract in November, apology is from regret for offending not at early exit. Love all.

“No human controls my livelihood but My Allah. Never have, never will grovel to anyone! Proud Muslim, proud Pakistani, very proud British.

“Oh and God save the Queen. Rule Brittania!”

Marc has already posted an apology for his comments, which he claims were “misconstrued”.

Speaking in a video that he posted to his TheRealMarcAnwar YouTube channel, Marc said: “I would like to offer my sincerest apologies to anyone that I may have offended with my tweets on Friday evening and especially people from India.

“This was never my intention and the language was unacceptable, I feel that I have let a lot of people down, my family my friends and my former colleagues.”
