Debbie McGee reveals cancer scare has made her open to new romance

Late husband Paul Daniels passed away in 2016

| Updated:

TV personality Debbie McGee is said to be open to falling in love again following her breast cancer scare.

The glamorous 60-year-old hasn’t been in a relationship since her late husband Paul Daniels passed away in 2016 but has revealed her recent op to remove two tumours from her left breast has made her consider meeting someone new.

Debbie, who has been given the all clear, said she feels like the most fortunate person in the world and wants to enjoy every moment of her life.

She told The Sun: “It’s made me think even more to make the most of today and I would say I’m open to finding love again.

“It’s the same with my career. I let things happen and that’s what I think about meeting someone else.

“If it happens, it happens. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t. But how wonderful if it did.”

Debbie – who was her magician Paul’s glamorous assistant during their time together as performers – even reckons her late spouse would want her to find happiness in a new relationship.

She told the newspaper he had given his blessing for her to seek out love again before he passed away just one month after learning he had an incurable brain tumour.

Adding the couple had joked about her passing away before him, Debbie also revealed the popular TV trickster had every confidence she would cope after his death – and insisted he didn’t want her to be alone.

Although Debbie has been pictured with male companions she also said she hasn’t been on any dates since Paul passed away.

Claiming she hasn’t had many offers to step out with somebody, Debbie pondered whether that may be because potential suitors are respecting her grief.

Nonetheless, it is clear she will always cherish the memories of her late husband.

Last year, she paid tribute to him on what would’ve been their 30th wedding anniversary.

She wrote: “30 years ago today I married this amazing man. Still miss him every day ❤.”
