Davood Ghadami reveals whether he’ll take a break from EastEnders to do Strictly

His character is set for tough times ahead...

| Updated:

The wait is finally over as Strictly waltzes back onto our screens for another series, and joining the show as usual is a flurry of soap stars.

This can mean a punishing schedule of long days of filming fitting in with rehearsals – could this be the reason behind Eastenders’ Kush Kazemi’s recent ill health?

Davood Ghadami, who plays Kush, is taking part in this year’s Strictly, and is set to suffer a cardiac arrest on the soap.

It’s led some fans wonder if his character will depart screens for a while to allow him to focus on Strictly.

After getting knocked back by Denise when he asked her to move in, an angry Kush collapses after storming out of the house.

With his Strictly commitment, it could mean that the character gets worse before he gets better.

But Davood has assured fans he will not be disappearing from screens while on Strictly.

Talking to Digital Spy, Davood said:  “No, I won’t be taking a break per se, but hopefully it’ll be a bit quieter storyline-wise.”

It seems Davood is aware he has some big dancing shoes to fill, with EastEnders veterans Jake Wood, Kara Tointon, and Tameka Empson among some of the Walford residents who have sported the sequined lycra.

“Obviously plenty of EastEnders actors have done the show before.

“I’m hoping to follow in their footsteps, they’ve all done really well, they’ve set the bar really high, which can be a bit nervy for me.”

“They’re all brilliant, they’re all so excited for this season for me and they’ve got a great wealth of information and loyalty passed down to me.

“As it’s such a big deal and they’ve had such great fun doing it.

“They obviously want me to have the same, so I’m going to try and enjoy it.”

On the bright side, if Kush remains in hospital, Davood will no doubt enjoy having a nice lie down at work after all those gruelling routines!
