Davina McCall reassures fans after concerns for her wellbeing

She's cleared things up

Davina McCall has reassured fans she is fine after recently admitting she sometimes “fakes” being happy.

Speaking on Fearne Cotton’s podcast Happy Place this week, the presenter, 51, said on occasions she struggles to see “any positives” and believes nobody wants to know when she isn’t happy so she hides it.

Davina’s comments became a topic of conversation on Thursday’s Loose Women and it wasn’t long before she was flooded with comments from concerned fans.

Clarifying her comments, the presenter shared a couple of videos to Twitter, insisting she is happy.

In the first clip, she said: “I think Loose Women may have talked about me being unhappy today or something because people are sending me messages saying they hope I’m okay.

“I’m really good. Don’t worry about me, I’m absolutely fine. I mean literally nothing wrong with me.

“I have in the past said if I’m not feeling confident, I just fake it to make it. Is that what they’re talking about? Because I’m really happy.”

Minutes later, she posted another video after discovering the loose ladies were discussing her comments on Fearne’s podcast.

She said: “Just FYI, I’ve seen what it’s from. It’s from beautiful Fearne Cotton’s podcast.

“I said that sometimes when I’m unhappy, I fake being happy because I don’t want to show people I’m miserable.

“But I have friends that I talk to and if I’m really in a fug, I go and see a counselor. But I’m absolutely not unhappy so you don’t need to worry about me.”

Davina added: “Thank you very much for your concern.”

It comes after Davina told Fearne: “Sometimes I’m faking it. Sometimes I’m struggling.

“There’s been a few occasions where I’m struggling to see any positives in this at all.

“Happiness is marvellous. I love it when I’m happy, but I’m not always happy. It might look like I’m always happy because I quite often just show the bits when I’m happy.”

She also said that she believes nobody wants to know when she isn’t happy so she hides it.

Davina added: “I am often guilty of thinking, ‘No one really wants to see me when I’m unhappy.'”
