We’re used to seeing Davina McCall with a mega-watt smile on her face, but she’s in serious mode during a Boxing day video post to Instagram.
The telly fave – who announced her split from husband of 17 years, Matthew Robertson, just last month – issued a message about loneliness.
The mum of three said: “Hey everybody – I just wanted to say a very happy Christmas and I wanted to also say happy Christmas to anybody who’s feeling a bit lonely.
“I think it’s one of those days, isn’t it? Where, sometimes even if you’re in a huge group of people it’s quite possible to feel lonely or if you’ve lost someone you really care about, and this is your first Christmas without them, or if you couldn’t get home to your family.
“Anyway, I’m sending everybody a great big Christmassy hug.”
She captioned the post: “Hi! Sending you all a big hug! x”
Many of Davina’s followers adore her precisely for her transparency and honesty, and shared their own experiences of sadness and struggles.
One wrote: “Thank you for such a beautiful message. Your smile and your positivity kept me going when I was taking care of my dad.
“He always noticed how much happier I was after doing one of your DVDs. He passed away last year after a long battle with cancer, and your smile helped me and is still helping me get through it all.
“You are brilliant!!!We hug you back!
Another thanked her, saying: “Wise words Davina, I faced my first Christmas without my daughter aged 12 who lost her life to a cruel disease just eight months ago.
“I took your advice and had a duvet and film day. I reflected, remembered her just as I wanted. Like you said… it’s just another day.”
