David Cassidy ‘close to death’ as family reportedly told to prepare for the worst

The singer has suffered organ failure and is awaiting a transplant

David Cassidy is reportedly close to death, and his family have been told to prepare for the worst, after he suffered organ failure.

We reported at the weekend that the former Partridge Family star, 67, had been rushed to hospital in Florida.

Reports suggested he was placed in an induced coma, but is apparently in and out of consciousness.

David’s son Beau, 26, has now written a message on the singer’s Facebook page, stating: “Unfortunately David is very sick.

“However he is getting the support he needs, surrounded by the people he loves most.

“Thank you very much for your love and concern that you have expressed in your messages to him.”

Meanwhile, a source told US website TMZ.com that the star’s condition was “grim” and his family are being told they “need to prepare for the worst”.

David has suffered ill-health for years and has had a public battle with substance abuse.

At the time he told People: “I was in denial, but a part of me always knew this was coming.”

He later decided to step away from his career to focus on his health.
