David Beckham defends kissing photo

A photo of him kissing his daughter Harper on the lips caused quite a reaction

When David Beckham, 42, shared a photo of himself kissing daughter Harper, five, on the lips last month, it got a mixed reaction with some fans describing it as “weird”.

The former England captain has finally hit back at the negative comments.

“I actually got criticised for kissing my daughter on the lips the other day,” he said in a Facebook Live chat.

“I kiss all my kids on the lips.

“But I’m very affectionate with the kids. It’s how I was brought up, and Victoria, and it’s how we are with our children.

“We want to show our kids love and we want to protect them, look after them, support them, and we’ve very affectionate with them.”

David and Victoria are also parents to Brooklyn, 18, Romeo, 14, and Cruz 12. Former footballer David joked that Brooklyn was probably the only one he wouldn’t kiss on the lips in public as he’s an adult.

When David posted the original photo, he was surprised at the reaction.

“David, to kiss lips of your daughter that’s wrong,” wrote one fan.

“To be honest, kissing your daughter on the lips is a little weird,” added another.

Most of David’s fans leapt to his defence, however.

“A beautiful photo of a Daddy’s love,” wrote one fan. “There’s nothing wrong with this photo, it’s a sick world at times.”

“If anyone has anything bad to say about this photo they need to look at themselves.”

“This is so beautiful in so many ways!”
