In truly excellent news, the BBC has confirmed a new show starring Danny Dyer – and it sounds completely epic.
The EastEnders star will be teaching viewers all about British history, in a two-part show called Danny Dyer’s Right Royal Family.
It will see him get hands-on with 800 years of ancestors, which means we’ll see Danny eating sheep’s tongue like a viking, dressing in an Elizabethan ruff like a king, and hunting like William the Conqueror.
In case you’d forgotten, the Cockney actor’s royal lineage was discovered back in 2016, during his appearance on Who Do You Think You Are?
He had his family tree traced and found out he had links to William the Conqueror, Edward III and Thomas Cromwell.
The actor, 41, said in a statement: “I’m still in shock at the fact that I’m related to such important people. I’ve had a ball getting to know them. It was a nutty experience.”
A BBC spokeswoman added: “His journey is a retelling of 800 years of British history – which is all there in his extraordinary bloodline”.
We don’t yet have a date when this will air, but we’ll be waiting by the TV for the next five years, just in case.
It follows Danny’s revelation of another new job – a Christmas musical!
Taking to Instagram the actor confirmed he would be appearing with his Love Island winner daughter Dani, 22, in Nativity! The Musical in London.
A clearly thrilled Danny, who plays Walford’s Mick Carter, broke the news on Instagram, telling fans: “Can’t believe I’m gonna be mincing about on the stage at @eventimapollo with my beautiful first born child in Nativity! The Musical this Christmas. #choked.”
Dani also shared the news and the same image on her own Instagram account.
The reality star told fans: “I am SO excited to be starring alongside my dad @officialdannydyer in @nativityuk at the Eventim Apollo this December (19-31)! It’s going to be proper Christmassey! See you all there.”
Danny’s playing Hollywood Producer while Dani takes the role of his daughter, Polly Parker, in the musical based on the hit film starring Martin Freeman.
Dani previously said: “I am so excited to make my stage debut in Nativity! and with my dad! It is going to be so much fun and will be lovely for us to be in a musical together at Christmas time, I just can’t wait!”
But it does also mean Danny is sadly not going to be appearing on Dani’s new reality show.
We cannot wait to learn history from Danny in ruffles. If only our teachers at school were more like him, maybe we’d have paid more attention…
