Danny Dyer calls Love Island’s Jack Fincham his “future son-in-law”

Predicting wedding bells then, Danny?!

| Updated:

Danny Dyer has dropped his biggest hint yet that he approves of daughter Dani’s boyfriend Jack Fincham.

Aspiring actress Dani, 21, has been coupled up with pen salesman Jack, 26, in the Love Island villa since day one, and just this week the smitten pair exchanged “I love yous” for the first time.

There was also a rather awkward moment when it emerged Jack has a poster above of his bed of one of Danny’s movies…

And that’s what EastEnders actor Danny, 40, chose to reference when he took to social media on Thursday morning.

Danny touched on his daughter’s romance in a tweet to celebrate making the TV Choice Awards shortlist for his role as Mick Carter in EastEnders.

He told his 1.3 million fans: “I’ve only gone and made the shortlist for the TV Choice Awards. If you fancy it whack a vote my way….. right… I’m off to the villa… to sign my future son in law’s canvas…. lovely.”

Fans loved Danny’s remark and inundated him with compliments on how well Dani is doing.

One told him: “Dani is doing an amazing job, you must be so proud of her, she honestly is a great role model for young girls, proving that if you have the up most respect for yourself, you get the respect from such a lovely guy like Jack!”

Another wrote: “Dani is doing so so well ! She is such a strong girl and everyone love her because she is so down to earth.”

A third added: “This just made me belly laugh at the canvas comment, and I’m out in public! You can be so proud of Dani, not just with Jack but she’s been respectful of herself and others, funny, caring for everyone, a true credit to you… (and yes you got my vote mate).”

Others wondered if Danny was serious about heading to the villa, as it was suggested earlier this week prior commitments could stop him appearing in the traditional “meet the parents” episode if Dani makes the final.

Hopeful fans took it as a good sign Danny could head over to Majorca, saying they couldn’t wait to see him in the villa.

However, a rep for Love Island told ED! yesterday: “There are no current plans for any of the families to appear on the show.”

Dani has been smitten with Jack since day one, although their romance was tested earlier this week when Jack’s ex, Ellie Jones, entered Casa Amor.

The boys had been sent to Casa Amor for a few days, where they were met by six new female islanders. Back at the villa, six new men entered to try to woo the existing ladies.

Dani was left in tears when the girls were sent a video clip from Casa Amor showing Jack’s stunned expression at seeing Ellie arrive; she immediately began to panic that Ellie wanted Jack back and started to doubt her romance, unaware that Jack had made it clear he only has eyes for Dani.

Ellie is now at the main villa coupled up with Sam Bird and cleared the air with Dani, promising she didn’t want Jack back.

She told Dani: “We were on and off since 2016. I didn’t know he was coming on here. That’s what I had the hump about. He could have gone about things a little bit differently with me but he did apologise for that…

“I wouldn’t go back there. He didn’t make me that happy. I was a bit down about it in that situation. He wasn’t the best. He could have just done things a bit differently.”

Ellie was also the one who let slip that Jack has a canvas of one of Danny’s movies above his bed which appeared to amuse poor Dani!

Although, as a relieved Dani pointed out to Laura Anderson, at least it wasn’t a poster of Danny’s actual face!

Love Island airs 9pm on ITV2.
