We're trying to find some similarities...

Speaking on Monday morning’s Lorraine, Max was asked if the familial rumour was true.

Max replied: “Yeah, yeah he is! I announced being on the show with him [during Chris’ Radio 2 show]. We get on very well, I don’t get to see him as much as I would like.”

Lorraine, 58, commented: “You don’t look alike”, and the 34-year-old laughed.

The pro rugby star, who has won 44 caps playing for the Scottish national team as a centre and a wing, also chatted about his famous brother.

Thom, 32, is best known for his relationship with Kelly Brook, but he also played rugby until an injury ended his career.

He later appeared as a contestant on Strictly in 2014, where he was fourth to leave the show.

Admitting they get competitive, Max said: “Everyone’s been making the comparison. My brother, he went out [of Strictly] just before Blackpool, which I think he was a bit gutted about.

“We are [competitive] but sporting wise more. We’ve grown up just the two of us. Playing sport, messing about.

“In terms of the shows, I’ve gone further… ice skating is so much harder.”

When a picture of Thom popped up, Max added: “My baby brother! Taller than me, more handsome.”

After a tense skate-off, competing with actor Antony Cotton and presenter Donna Air, the panel – Jason Gardiner, Ashley Banjo, Christopher Dean, and head judge Jayne Torvill – chose to save Max.

Max and his dancing partner, Ale Izquierdo looked relieved, quickly hugging their rivals.

On Lorraine, the Scottish presenter also mentioned his chemistry with Mexican Ale.

Max, who has also played golf professionally in Portugal, was married to American model Katy Johnson, until their split a year ago. He is now dating dancer Lauren Jamieson.

He told Lorraine: “It was actually such a huge compliment in the first week – saying about our chemistry. As you said, Lauren is a dancer she understands that need for chemistry.”

Max has previously said Lauren would never be jealous of his routines with Ale.

He explained: “She’s a dancer so she understands how you work with someone and how a performance is an act. There won’t be jealousy.”
