Craig Revel Horwood quizzed on claims he was ‘told off’ by Strictly bosses

He apparently criticised his fellow co-stars during his book tour

Craig Revel Horwood has shrugged off claims he was given a ticking off by Strictly Come Dancing bosses after reportedly making some unflattering comments about his co-stars.

At the weekend, The Sun claimed he called host Tess Daly “dull”, took a swipe at judge Shirley Ballas’ breasts, and labelled Bruno Tonioli an “attention-seeker” during a tour stop in Oxford to promote his new book In Strictest Confidence.

During an appearance on Monday’s edition of BBC Breakfast, Craig was asked about the claims by hosts Dan Walker and Louise Minchin.

Dan told Craig: “It’s always great to have someone on, like you today, when you’re in the papers being quoted for something and I can check it with you.

“This says Craig has apparently been warned by Strictly bosses for something you said during your book tour, you’ve been having a pop at Bruno and a bit of a laugh at Shirley’s expense.”

Craig, however, didn’t seem to keen to address the claims and tried to change the topic: “I have to say, isn’t there more pressing news?”

The star said news about murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi and Brexit should be reported on instead.

He continued: “Wouldn’t that be better to put on the front of the paper, in my opinion. Brexit let’s talk about that, something that is actually going to change our lives.

“I think there’s other things to talk about that are far more important than that particular story.”

It comes after The Sun claimed Craig had make jokes about his co-stars while on his book tour recently and Strictly bosses ordered him to watch what he says in the future.

Onlookers reportedly told the publication that Craig, 53, made the comments in front of 50 people during his book tour in Oxford.

He apparently said of Tess: “I have to answer Tess’s quite dull questions… actually I tend to avoid them and not answer if I’m super honest.”

Speaking of his friend Bruno, he reportedly said: “I get on with him but he is driving me nuts at the moment. Every time I try and speak, he is dancing across the desk or falling off his chair. I think he is a proper attention-seeker.

“I like him as a person. He’s very nice. He has taken me out to dinner once. I’ve taken him out about 25 times.”

A source told the outlet: “Craig has rubbed everybody up the wrong way with his comments including senior people on the production team and his fellow judges.

“The comments were totally out of order and that has been made clear to Craig.”
