Corrie fans were worried Sinead would be killed off after she was diagnosed with cervical cancer last year.

However, Katie told the Daily Star Sunday: “I’m going to be here until next year. It’s a long running story.

“If I get to stay longer it will be amazing because Sinead is a great character.”

Upcoming episodes will see Sinead leave the hospital and finally get to bring her baby, Bertie, home.

Katie is hoping the plot will raise awareness of support that’s available for cancer sufferers.

She added: “Not everyone wants to watch a touchy subject like this but I do think it’s important as it helps make the public more aware and know that help is out there.”
