Coronation Street’s Kate Ford attacks writers of the soap

The actress didn't like Tracy's behaviour last year

| Updated:

Kate Ford has hit out at Corrie scriptwriters saying they didn’t do Tracy justice last year.

As Tracy approaches her 40th birthday this week, Kate has said she’s pleased her alter ego’s getting on a more even keel now.

Speaking to The Sun On Sunday, Kate said:

“Tracy was harder to play for me last year, because she was becoming a bit one-dimensional, but this year she’s back on track.

“The stories are making her a bit more human again. And I like the fact that she doesn’t have a female arch-enemy at the moment.

“For a while the scriptwriters would have Tracy fight with someone, then they’d leave, and they’d give her another arch-enemy. It got a bit old.

“But recently I haven’t had that. Instead, she’s got friendships.

“The big dramatic scenes might be good to watch but as an actress I prefer the more intricate scenes, the small moments, not the big ones.”

Despite her disappointment at writers taking her character in the direction they were, Kate has insisted she’s happier now.

Her most recent storyline sees her hooking up with toyboy Luke, which Kate reckons is a winner.

“Tracy has had toyboys before but this one seems to be working out well for her.”

And she also insisted to the paper that her time on the show was nowhere near done:

“Will Tracy still be here at 80? You’ll have to wait and see. But I don’t think she’s run her course yet.”

She’s already killed off her boyfriend Charlie Stubbs, sold her baby, married Steve, faked a miscarriage and waged war against Carla Connor to name but a few storylines. So what could possibly be next for her?

“She hasn’t been a prostitute yet, so maybe she could open a brothel!”
