Corrie’s Bethany Platt gets engaged to evil Nathan?

Viewers spot Bethany sporting a sparkler in distressing new spoiler pictures

Coronation Street’s Bethany Platt is caught up in one of the show’s most distressing storylines for years. The schoolgirl has been groomed by her much older boyfriend Nathan, who has also been ‘promising’ the teenager to his friends.

While fans have been desperate for Bethany (played by Lucy Fallon) to escape Nathan’s clutches, according to some eagle-eyed viewers it doesn’t look like that will be happening anytime soon.

Looking at images taken during some filming on location, fans spotted what appears to be an engagement ring on young Bethany’s finger.

And nobody would put it past the manipulative Nathan (Chris Harper) to propose to the youngster if it meant keeping her under his control.

The storyline has been difficult viewing for everyone. Actress Lucy Fallon recently said: “It does make me feel uncomfortable, but it’s so important that we do it.”

The photographs taken down on a canal towpath show Bethany rather bloodied and beaten and looking distraught, when her friend Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) comes to her rescue.

Wearing a short skirt, tights and heels but with a hoodie over the top, it seems like Bethany could have been hiding out alone for hours before Craig came across her.

But fans noticed a silver and diamond sparkler on the third finger of her left hand and were quick to speculate if that meant evil Nathan had popped the question and that the pair could be set to get MARRIED.

The Coronation Street press office had not confirmed the storyline.

As for why Bethany was in that distressing situation in the first place, we will have to watch and see.

It could have been Nathan who hurt and then dumped her, or she could have been running away from one of his friends, or it could have been Nathan’s female accomplice Mel dishing out the punishment.

One thing’s for sure – life for Bethany looks set to get very much worse before it gets better.
