The road to true love does not run smooth in soap land.
“Somebody from Robert’s past comes along which will see them facing their first problems together,” said Corrie boss Kate Oates.
“That will test them as a couple and how strong they are.”
Someone else comes along to upset the apple cart, too.
“We also have Michelle’s ex, Will, back on the scene,” Kate told The Sun Online. “She almost cheated on Steve with him and he’s back in the mix.”
Michelle has already suffered heartache this year when she lost her baby at 23 weeks into her pregnancy.
The storyline mirrored real life as Kym and her one-time partner, Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas, lost their baby son in 2009.
“I thought long and hard before agreeing to take on the challenge of this storyline,” said Kym.
“It is a cause very close to my heart having lost my beautiful Archie.
“I have had to go to some very dark places in my mind while filming these heart-breaking scenes, but my family, friends and colleagues have been incredible.
“Losing a child is something that never leaves you so to revisit those feelings has been challenging.”
On Sunday, Kym and her daughter Emily are running a 10K race in aid of Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Trust charity.
Kym has been devastated by the recent terror attack in her home city.
“I am lost for words for what has happened in our beautiful city,” she said.
She and Emily wanted to pay tribute to Manchester by getting bee tattoos, and the day before the race.
“Any tattooists nearby got any spaces?” she asked on Saturday.
