Katie McGlynn addresses ‘heated spat’ with Maura Higgins

They were pictured together at the TV Choice Awards

Katie McGlynn has denied having what has been claimed was a “heated spat” with Love Island‘s Maura Higgins after the TV Choice Awards.

Katie, who plays Sinead Tinker on Coronation Street, was pictured in The Sun with Maura in what appeared to be a spirited conversation.

The tabloid claimed there was a dispute, as Katie was spotted gesturing frantically at Maura, and that Love Island co-stars Curtis Pritchard and Chris Taylor stepped in to diffuse the situation.

However, Katie has hit back at the story, revealing on Twitter that she had a “great night” with “lovely girl” Maura.

She wrote: “Must be a slow news day. It was a pleasure meeting @MauraHiggins last night, she’s a lovely girl! We had a great night. Must remember to be less animated when talking to new friends haha.”

A representative for Maura added: “These claims are false, Maura and Katie are friends and they even left together.”

It must have been an emotional evening for Katie, though, as she filmed her last scenes as Sinead, who she’s played for almost seven years, on Sunday.

She appeared on This Morning earlier today to discuss leaving the soap after it was revealed that her character, Sinead Tinker, will end up losing her battle with cervical cancer.

She told Phil and Holly that doesn’t want to watch her final scenes because it would be too “heartbreaking”.

She then revealed that she did tear up while reading Sinead’s final scenes.

“I don’t usually cry as a person,” she began, and then went on to add: “This one scene was Sinead’s last dialogue.

“We were just sat reading through it and I started crying. It’s absolutely heartbreaking.”

Katie then told the This Morning presenting duo that she “made a swift exit” after her finals scenes were in the can.

She finished off the interview by revealing what she wanted to do after Corrie.

“A bit of drama,” she began, and then added: “A bit of comedy. I’d to do a bit of everything to be honest.”
