Keith Duffy hints at possible return to Coronation Street as Ciaran McCarthy

His appearance would turn up the heat - and push a few noses out of joint!

There are always rumours about former soap favourites making a return to the shows… but we really, really, really want this latest one to have legs.

Keith Duffy – who played twinkly-eyed Rovers barman Ciaran McCarthy – could make a comeback to the cobbles.

The Irish charmer hasn’t been seen in Weatherfield for five years.

But the former Boyzone crooner has revealed he would like to see the soap stud return.

The 42-year-old told Soaplife magazine: “Corrie is something that’s never left me.

“Everywhere I go, I still get people coming up and talking to me about it.

“Coronation Street was a huge part of my life.

“I was there for 10 years on and off, from 2002 to 2011.

“I loved the character of Ciaran and I’d like to think that, one day, he’ll be back on the cobbles, causing more trouble and stirring things up.”

Keith has been keeping himself busy in his time away from Manchester, notably pairing up with his pal and fellow Irish singer Brian McFadden to create new group.

The duo is called Boyzlife – a mash-up of Keith’s old band and Brian’s old group, Westlife.

They’ll be touring some of the greatest hits from both bands, such as Flying Without Wings.

It is the brainchild of Keith who went joined the Corrie cast after Boyzone originally split in 2000.

Now both he and Brian, who quit Westlife in 2004, are hoping it will open the door to a full-blown merger involving more of their former bandmates.
