David Platt may find new love on Coronation Street after Kylie’s death

Will he find love after the death of wife Kylie?

Cupid could be firing his arrow at one of the most unlikely characters on Coronation Street.

Brooding David Platt, played by Jack P Shepherd, has barely raised a smile since the murder of his wife Kylie last year.

He has been consumed with thoughts of revenge and has taken many dark paths as he tried to come to turns with his wife’s stabbing.

But the Weatherfield favourite has teased that love could be in the air.

Speaking to the Radio Times, Jack has said that David could be moving on from Kylie.

It would seem unlikely that David would now find love after the trauma of Kylie’s death but Jack says that it seems feasible.

He said: “Whenever I say that David could go off with other people, journalists have always said that he has to be sad forever because what happened with Kyle was so traumatic.

“But things do move quickly in soap.

“Before you know it, he’ll be shacked up with somebody else or getting married again.

“It’s one of the reasons I like playing the character so much.”

Jack added: “I just read what the writers have in store for David and believe in it.

“And if I believe in it, then the audience will believe in it too.”

It would be a welcome return to lighter storylines after David spent many months hunting down Kylie’s killer, Clayton Hibbs.

If he had got his way, David may have been serving time in prison for wreaking revenge on him.

Luckily, it didn’t quite go to plan and now there could be happier times ahead.
