Rosie would have been 21

Coleen Rooney has paid tribute to her late sister Rosie in a touching Instagram post on what would have been her 21st birthday.

Rosie had Rett syndrome, a genetic brain disorder, and died on January 5, 2013, aged 14.

Coleen, 32, shared images of Rosie with her family in her post, while on her Stories she uploaded an image of a grand birthday cake baked in her honour.

“Happy 21st Birthday Angel Rosie” was etched in icing around the base.

Many expressed their feelings by simply posting heart emojis.

“I am sure Rosie will be partying hard with all the other angels too precious for this earth. Lots of love to you and your family. Days like today are tough . You all gave Rosie a beautiful time,” wrote one follower.

“Wow 21. So sad the world is cruel. Happy birthday princess,” said another.

The poignant family milestone comes after a difficult start to the year for the mum-of-four boys.

Last month, she was said to have been left shaken following a car crash that wrote off her vehicle.

The collision happened near the family’s home in Maryland, USA, where they are currently living while Wayne plays for Washington’s DC united.

Then in December, she was mortified when Wayne was arrested in Dulles airport in Virginia for public intoxication after a flight from Saudi Arabia.

A spokesman for the footballer said his unruly behaviour was down to mixing sleeping tablets with some alcohol on the flight, which led to him being “disorientated on arrival”.

As the arrest came after Wayne was convicted of drink driving in 2017, Coleen was said to be furious about his latest brush with the law.

A source told Heat Magazine: “She told him he wasn’t to go out of the house again without supervision. Coleen was really [expletive] off with Wayne for getting into trouble again.

“She was mortified when she got the call and wanted him straight home. She called him an idiot for doing something so stupid.”
