Coronation Street celebrity guest star eyeing up return to Weatherfield!

Original stint was in 2015

Two years after he first appeared in the soap, Paddy McGuinness has admitted he would love to return to Coronation Street as Dougie Ryan.

The Take Me Out presenter expressed his interest to the Sunday People, saying: “I absolutely loved it.

“I love that character and if something came around again I’d definitely look at it. Maybe again as a short stint.”

“Being a kid and brought up with my mum on her own, Corrie was part of being brought up in a northern household. It was always on.” he added.

The funny guy was originally on the show in 2015 when he played survival expert Dougie and taught Kirk and Tyrone some skills for the great outdoors.

Paddy, along with wife Christine, is also concentrating on his family life after the couple’s twin children were diagnosed with autism. The four-year-olds, Penelope and Leo, were diagnosed with the condition last year.

The couple are also parents to 10-month-old Felicity.

Speaking to The Sunday Mirror, Christine said: “We really wanted a big family. We wanted eight children. We just thought we could keeping going, but…”

She continued: “We’ve had to reconsider plans because the twins need us and we are stretched as it is.

“You fear for their future. All those things you have planned, family holidays, just sitting in a cafe, parties, Christmas. That does go.

“Now Christmas has to be really quiet with no decorations or bright lights. It is something we have to accept. And as time goes by all their mini achievements mean the world to you.”

“We don’t have any help and Felicity is still not sleeping. Sometimes we are exhausted. It wouldn’t be fair to have more.”

Christine also spoke of her admiration for her husband – who broke down in tears recently on The One Show after he received a gift from a girl who has Cerebral Palsy – and his determination to continue working despite their full-time roles as parents.

She said: “He has to go off and make people laugh, which shows how professional he is. I wouldn’t be able to do it.

“I don’t know how he does. It’s been tough for both of us but he has struggled more lately, just with knowing it is forever.”

We love these guys – and we’d LOVE to see Paddy make a reappearance on the soap.
