Holby City hits code red with full capacity and staff shortages

Let's hope she doesn't put the hospital or her career in jeapordy...

After all departments have found themselves under huge amounts of pressure, Holby City finally hits a code red, with the hospital full to capacity, patients on trolleys in corridors and a shortage of staff.

And when the shutdown leads to ambulances queuing outside the hospital, Dr Alicia Munroe (played by Chelsea Halfpenny) is furious that patients are being put in danger.

Especially when one of her own patients is put in a desperate situation, and another patient’s family stress leads to Alicia’s assault.

With new Clinical Lead Ethan Hardy having to play musical beds, poor Alicia, along with the rest of the department, are furious that the situation is so bad.

At the end of her shift she finds herself writing an anonymous blog about what a state, not only the department is in, but the NHS as a whole.

Now we are all for venting and writing things down, but sometimes pressing send is never the best move when you’re angry!

Tomorrow’s episode also sees the introduction of new F1 Bea Kinsella (played by Michelle Fox), who is an old friend of ED junior doctor, Rashid.

But will her bullish ways in the department be seen as a help or a hindrance?

It also sees a special guest appearance by  Melanie Walters, who is better known as Stacey’s mum Gwen, from Gavin and Stacey.

She plays the carer of a terminally ill man whose daughter is jealous of their relationship.

And, with all this going on, who could forget it’s Duffy and Charlie’s first wedding anniversary – ahhhhh!

But all plans of celebrating go out the window when the day’s events see ED legend Charlie, struggling to get through the shift.
