Alison King spotted backstage, hinting at Carla Connor’s return to Coronation Street

Rumoured return for dad Johnny's wedding to Jenny!

Corrie fans have been treated to the return of some true Weatherfield favourites of late.

Peter Barlow’s back, as is Adam Barlow – and Toyah Battersby will return on Christmas Day.

But could there be any comeback more exciting than that of Carla Connor?

We think not!

Rumours are swirling that the raven-haired sass-pot could be back, just six months after fleeing Manchester after her relationship with Nick Tilsley went belly up.

New show runner Kate Oates has made no secret of how much she would love to have the former factory boss – played by Alison King – back.

Now, according to The Sun, the Street fave has been spotted backstage on the set of the soap.

A source said: “Alison decided to leave before Kate took over the role of series producer, something Kate was gutted about.

“Kate is a big fan of Alison and is keen to get her back full-time as she loved her character.

“Alison struggled to find work since leaving in the summer and the cast and viewers would love her to return too.

“There was always an emphasis on the door being left open for her character  and several storylines are coming up that could make that happen.”

Soap bosses are, reportedly, hoping to entice Alison back for her on-screen dad Johnny’s wedding to Jenny.

Award-winning actress Alison played the soft-centred ice maiden on and off for a decade.

She cited wanting to spend more time with her young daughter as he reason for quitting the show earlier this year.

“I’ve probably only ever done about 20 pick-ups or drop-offs in all the time my daughter’s been at school, which is quite sad,” explained the mum-of-one.

“And creatively, I miss being other people.

“It’s what I went to drama school for. I love playing diverse characters and meeting new people.”
