According to The Sun, police and three ambulances were called to a beach on Spain’s Costa Dorada, part of the Catalonia region.

It is understood that the tourist was retrieved from the water and paramedics performed CPR but were unable to save him.

The paper reported that the tragic incident happened on Sunday (June 23) around 5.40pm off Regueral Beach in the Cambrils municipality, part of Tarragona.

An eyewitness quoted by local media outlets claims to have seen the tourist, who is yet to be named, tumble from a pedalo and get into difficulty as the sea current pulled him further out.

The Brit was said to have been visibly struggling as emergency services were called.

The beach had lifeguards present and the flags indicating conditions were green to tell holidaymakers that the sea was safe, according to the Sun.

It follows the death of a British boy at a villa on Spain’s Costa del Sol.

The five-year-old and his family were reportedly on holiday at La Vinuela, a village around 18 miles northeast of Malaga.

Police, paramedics and an air ambulance rushed to the property after the boy fell into the pool, but sadly he could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Earlier this month another boy, also five, drowned on holiday with his family in Greece.

Theo Treharne-Jones reportedly died at the Atlantica Holiday Village resort on the island of Kos, having woken earlier than his parents and wandered from their hotel room to the pool.

The family from Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales – parents Nina Treharne and Richard Jones, both 38, and his older sister and younger brother – are understood to have visited the resort before.
