Bride-to-be goes viral after fat shaming bridesmaid who had just given birth

'Only skinny pretty bridesmaids please!'

A bride-to-be has been labelled “the worst friend in the world” after she fat shamed her bridesmaid who had just become a new mum.

After the woman posted in an online mums’ group asking if it “would be wrong” to replace her maid of honour “on the day of the wedding” if she doesn’t fit into her dress, someone added it to Facebook group That’s It – I’m Wedding Shaming and it soon went viral.

In the original post, the unidentified woman wrote: “So my friend who is my maid of honour in my wedding recently gave birth and she hasn’t lost the baby weight.

“I know it’s not an easy thingsto do and all but it’s been like three weeks already and she still looks pregnant.”

The bride-to-be added that, with three weeks to go until the wedding, she wasn’t “confident” that her friend would lose the weight.

She said: “She may not even fit her dress. I refuse to have it altered again. It was already altered multiple times for her and she said she’d fit into it.”

Continuing her rant, the woman said: “My question is if, on the day of the wedding, she doesn’t fit the dress, would it be wrong to have someone else take her place?”

Admitting that she “had someone in mind”, the woman added: “She said she had a back-up dress and I’m saying hell no to that.”

Insisting that she wasn’t “fat shaming”, the bride-to-be concluded: “I’m not fat shaming but come on. My wedding is only one day and I’m not having it ruined by her or her baby weight.”

Users were quick to blast the bridezilla, with one saying: “Only skinny pretty bridesmaids please… The bride is the worst friend ever.”

Another called the bride-to-be’s post “gross” and added: “Imagine thinking your friend, who just grew a human, would ruin your wedding by having a bit of a belly. And expecting her to be back in her pre-baby body in 6 weeks?! That’s honestly gross.”

Others hoped the woman became “pregnant with triplets on honeymoon” while some joked that they hoped she “fell over” as she walked up the aisle.

Other users said they felt “bad” for her future husband, while another reminded her that bridesmaids are “supposed to be the people you love standing with you, not mannequins for photos”.
