Bradley Walsh scolds The Chase contestant for graphic comment because ‘kids are watching’

"You can't do that!" he warned

Bradley Walsh – and viewers – got a little more than they bargained for when they tuned in to The Chase on Thursday (25 April).

It was business as usual when Nick, Anne, Emily and Lawrence teamed up to take on the chaser – until Emily stepped up for her turn.

Facing Shaun Wallace, aka The Dark Destroyer, the 39-year-old recruiter was asked: “Hernia is the Latin name for what?”

Bradley told her the answer was either “bruise”, “rupture” or “strain”.

Emily quickly picked the second of the options, rupture.

She explained: “A hernia is when a bit of your muscle comes out through, or a bit of something comes out through a hole in your tummy.”

As she talked, Bradley’s face creased into an expression of mild disgust and he spluttered: “Hold tight!

“Kids are eating their fish fingers, you can’t do that!”

He went on to say: “What, like Alien?” to which she replied: “Kind of.”

The bemused host then attempted to recreate an impression of the famous scene in Alien, when a pesky extraterrestrial exits from the chest of a protagonist.

He said: “Comes out of your stomach. Ouch!”

And we would argue that his impression of the Sigourney Weaver movie was far more disturbing than Emily’s description of a hernia!

Meanwhile, Shaun patiently waited for the question to be answered…

Bradley eventually told Emily her answer was correct.

Despite this small win, Emily was unfortunately knocked out of the competition shortly after.

She answered several subsequent questions wrong and it was left to author Anne to face Shaun alone in the final chase.

She took a respectable £5,000 to the prize fund, but sadly the contestant only managed to rack up 12 correct answers.
