Boyzone’s Keith Duffy blames illness on ‘contaminated food’ following hospital dash

Boyzone star Keith Duffy has broken his silence after taking ill at a gig last week.

The singer, 44, reportedly suffered a violent attack of diarrhoea and vomiting right before he was due to join his pals on stage for the Bangkok leg of their Thank You And Goodnight Tour.

A statement on Boyzone‘s Twitter page informed concerned fans: “Keith was taken ill before the gig here in Bangkok this evening and has been admitted to hospital on the advice of the local medical team.

“Our brother will be back on his feet as soon as possible and we thank you for all your wonderful support in the meantime.”

Now, Keith has taken to Instagram to tell his followers about the “worst bad health experience” of his life, posting a snap of himself smiling alongside hospital staff at Bangkok’s World Medical Center.

He captioned the pic: “72 hours of a fever of 38/40 degrees with diarrhoea and vomiting caused by contaminated food from bad hygiene in preparation!

He continued: “Thank you ladies, I love you! You’ve given me a whole new perspective of selflessness I will never forget! God bless you all, and thank you again!”

Keith’s devoted fans rushed to offer him messages of support in the comments.

One wrote: “Delighted to hear your back on your feet. We were so worried about you! Time to join the boys and do what you LOVE.”

Someone else commented: “Glad you’re back on your feet. Food poisoning is the WORST!”

Another said: “Can’t tell you how happy I am to see you back on your feet brother.”

A fourth wrote: “So pleased to see you back on your feet and smiling again. Safe travels as you go on your journey to meet the boys.”

It came after his Boyzone bandmates spoke out about his illness.

Shane Lynch said: “Unfortunately as you can see we are only three, our Keith Duffy is lost in Thailand. Just like the good film says, Thailand has got him now.”

Mikey Graham added: “One man down but we are soldiering on, looking forward to putting on a good show tonight here in Perth and looking forward to the rest of the Australia tour and hopefully sooner rather than later Keith will be back with us.”

Ronan Keating shared the video on his Instagram page and wrote: “Perth we are ready for ya.

“Sadly Duster is not with us tonight but we are praying for his speedy recovery and he will be back with us soon.”
