Bookies slash odds on Meghan and Harry’s baby being born this week

It's not long now...

Royal fans are patiently waiting for the arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s first child.

And it seems it may not be long now as bookies have slashed odds on the royal baby arriving THIS week.

While it was previously suggested the baby could arrive later in the month, it’s now predicted the tot could arrive before Sunday (April 14).

According to The Sun, the odds that Meghan will give birth this week are currently standing at 2/1.

Next week stands at 4/1 with the chances the royal baby being born two weeks from now also standing at 4/1.

Meanwhile, the chances that the baby will arrive on the Queen’s birthday – April 21 – have also dropped from 7/1 to 5/1.

Earlier this month, bookies slashed odds on the couple having a girl and calling her Elizabeth, in honour of her majesty.

Previously, the likelihood of Meghan and Harry calling their little one after the Queen stood at 16/1, but now betting site Ladbrokes has cut it to just 6/1.

Other names in the mix include Harry’s late mother Princess Diana.

Diana was previously one of the top contenders but the name now sits at 8/1 at the bookies.

Meanwhile, last week, it was reported that Meghan is not planning to pose with her newborn baby on the hospital steps like Kate Middleton and Princess Diana did.

According to royal correspondent Emily Andrews, Meghan will apparently break a four-decade royal tradition by deciding not to pose outside the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in London.

Emily said Meghan will want a more private and normal birth and to bond with her baby without the pressure of facing cameras.

According to The Sun, when asked whether Meghan is planning an “on the steps moment”, Emily told the On Heir podcast: “At the moment, we understand that she isn’t, she doesn’t want to do that, isn’t going to do that.”

American commentator Omid Scobie added that Meghan posing for the pics would go against her “feminist” beliefs.

He said: “Given what we know about Meghan, the optics of a totally glamorous, picture-perfect moment hours after giving birth are not quite in alignment with her views on the world.”
