‘Body shamed’ mum says she was thrown out of restaurant after wearing crop top

A mum claims she was body shamed after she was asked to leave a restaurant after wearing a crop top.

Sueretta Emke was out at a restaurant in to celebrate her son’s birthday.

But the family meal took a different turn when the manager of the Golden Corral restaurant told her that she was dressed “too provocatively”.

Dressed in a crop top and cut-off jeans, Sueretta says that the manager had received complaints from other diners.

She was then asked to either cover up or leave.

Taking to Facebook to tell her story, the mum-of-one from New York said that she explained that the family had driven for an hour and didn’t have a change of clothes.

Despite the restaurant chain having no dress code, Sueretta was asked to leave.

“He never would tell me exactly what I was showing too much of when I asked,” she said.

Sueretta’s story horrified her friends on the social media site.

One said: “That is so wrong!”

“But for some reason it’s acceptable for girls to walk around with their butt cheeks hanging out of their shorts.

“So much body shaming! Sueretta, you are beautiful and there was nothing wrong with how you were dressed.”

Another wrote: “Wow! I’m sorry girl that is terrible, you did nothing wrong. Beautiful inside and out.”

Sueretta updated the situation and said that the restaurant had apologised.
