Tim Healy-ed! Star now well enough to return to Benidorm

He was struck down by a mystery illness but has made a full recovery

ITV comedy Benidorm is set to welcome back one of it’s favourite characters.

Actor Tim Healy is looking to return to the hit show next year, when the 10th series of the show will be filmed.

He had been struck down by a mystery illness during the filming of the last series, that left him fighting for his life.

Tim, 64, plays cross-dressing Lesley in the sitcom and his co-stars are excited about him coming back to the show.

Janine Duvitski and Tony Maudsley have said that he’s “on the mend” and will be looking to return to film the next series.

Tony, who plays the over-the-top hairdresser in the ITV show, spoke to BANG Showbiz at the TV Choice Awards.

He said about Tim: “He was in hospital in Spain but he’s on the mend now because we know he’s coming back for series 10.

“Series 10 has been confirmed, Tim’s been confirmed. So he’s definitely on the mend.”

Janine admitted that Tim looks “so different” now that he is on the mend.

She spoke out about how Tim was when he fell in during April: “I saw Tim because I’m rehearsing an episode of Open All Hours.

“So I saw him last week and he’s lost a lot of weight, he was really poorly.

“He said it’s not a good way of losing a lot of weight but he’s back working now.

“He’s back at work anyway. He just looks different.”

Tim was admitted to hospital in Spain, where he spent four weeks in intensive care.

There were fears at the time that he was fighting for his life but he had a dramatic reversal with his condition.

He was made stable enough to return to the UK for further treatment.

It’s great to see Tim back and we know that Benidorm will be a brighter place with Lesley back behind the bar.
