Ant and Dec replaced as hosts of The Brit Awards by mega-star singer

New host to add 'an exciting element to show'

Canadian crooner Michael Buble is set to shake up The Brit Awards by being drafted in as host for the 2017 ceremony.

The singer has been signed to take over from Geordie presenting duo Ant and Dec, who have hosted the awards evening for the last two years.

Michael told The Sun: “It’s a huge honour for me to host such a big night in music. Even though I didn’t grow up as a Brit I’ve always been well aware of the Brit Awards and their impact globally.

“As a fan of music this is the perfect gig. I’m very much looking forward to February and celebrating the success stories of a great year in music.”

The awards, known as the biggest night of the UK music scene, usually take place in February and Michael has been nominated for a gong three times before, but is yet to get a win.

British stars usually front the event, although in the past Kylie Minogue and Ru Paul have been among the presenters.

Brits boss and Sony Music chairman Jason Iley said: “This is a huge coup for the Brit Awards and we are delighted to announce Michael as our host for 2017.

“He is an extremely talented and charismatic world-class entertainer much loved by the British public.

“Michael will add an exciting element to our show in 2017.”
