Angry Love Island viewers complain to Ofcom about Joe’s treatment of Lucie Donlan

Is Joe creepy and manupulative?

We’re not even a week into Love Island and already the sparks are beginning to fly.

After last night’s episode (Wednesday June 5) five viewers complained to broadcasting body Ofcom.

They were incensed at what they saw as “manipulative” and “possessive” behaviour by Joe Garrett in his treatment of Lucie Donlan.

Despite only being day three of the series, sandwich maker Joe became jealous after Lucie went on a date with Tommy.

He broke down in tears and demanded to know how the date went.

That night, Lucie slept alone in the living room, mortified at being caught in the middle between Joe and Tommy.

The next day Joe admitted to Lucie that he was jealous.

And, when she talked to him about their kiss, Joe panicked and thought she was talking about a kiss with Tommy.

Viewers were concerned when Joe then told Lucie that he now couldn’t trust her.

Other contestants became worried about Lucie.

Amy told her in a heart-to-heart that she was “shutting herself off too early,” and that “alarm bells” were ringing about Joe.

Later, she burst into tears during a quiet chat with Curtis.
