Amir Khan posts mysterious update after death threats over CHRISTMAS TREE

The boxer had been targeted online

Boxing champion Amir Khan was hit with vicious comments online after putting a picture of his Christmas tree on Instagram.

But the I’m A Celebrity star seemingly hit back with a cryptic update on the social media site late last night.

Amir posted an image of himself in a smart suit, with the caption: “Actions prove who someone is, words just prove who they want to be.”

The Muslim boxer had posted a pic of his tree on Instagram earlier this week, which he’d put up for his three-year-old daughter Lamaisah.

He wrote: “While everyone’s asleep, daddy put the Christmas tree up. Lamaisah’s going to be happy.”

But immediately he was criticised by some of his followers for “betraying” his religion.

One fan wrote that putting up the tree was “greatly sinful” while another added: “Just because many Muslim families do it doesn’t make it okay.”

And one nasty poster even threatened to kill him and little Lamaisah, as well as his wife Faryal Makhdoom who is expecting the couple’s second child next year.

“I promise to god I want to kill you and your family,” the sick troll wrote.

But among the many comments on the photo were lots of supportive messages, too.

“What’s wrong with celebrating Christmas, after all we do live in the UK!,” wrote one fan. “Hats off to Amir.”

And another said: “Merry Christmas Amir, to you and yours!”

Lots of Muslims living in the UK celebrate Christmas because the religion recognises Jesus as a prophet.

Amir, who is a devout Muslim, had special halal meals provided in the Celeb jungle, and was seen praying while he was taking part in the show.
