Alan Carr ties the knot with fiance Paul in secret LA ceremony

And it was possibly the smallest showbiz wedding ever...

As celeb weddings go, it wasn’t your typical scenario.

There were no blankets over heads to prevent photographers getting their money shot, no A-lister guests all trying to outdo each other in the outfit stakes, and, thus far, no social media drip feed of obscure photos of wedding rings on fingers, or a half-eaten canape.

Instead, Chatty Man host Alan Carr and his partner of ten years, Paul Drayton, exchanged their vows in a simple ceremony in Los Angeles – with just four guests watching over the proceedings.

A mole close to the pair told the Sun that the wedding was exactly how Alan wanted it – private.

“Alan is hugely eccentric but, when it came to his wedding, he wanted to keep it as private as possible,” the source said.

“They chose Los Angeles because it’s away from prying eyes and they wouldn’t be recognised — plus there’s no issue with the weather there.”

“It was a brilliant day and now both Alan and Paul are looking forward to chilling out in South America,” the insider said, adding that the event was ‘as intimate as you could imagine with just four guests invited’.

Alan, 41,  had previously told the press how Paul proposed to him over dinner when they were on holiday in Indonesia – and how it didn’t entirely go to plan.

Romantic Paul, 46, hid an engagement ring in Alan’s dessert, ready for him to discover at the end of their meal.

And discover it he did – biting in to it and thinking he had dislodged a filling!

A spokeswoman for Alan told the Sun that the newly weds are now planning a second wedding in the UK when they get back from honeymoon, so that more of their friends and family can share in their happiness.

“The couple are currently on honeymoon in Mexico and are planning a big celebration with all their family and friends back in the UK later this summer.”

She added: “They are both extremely happy.”

And they certainly seemed so in a cute snap Alan shared of the two of them on their honeymoon – larking about in a beach tent.

Referencing how much Mexican fare they’d consumed on their break,  Alan declared: “After 10 days of tacos and tequila, this sadly is the only thing that fits me. Diet starts manana!”

Aw, sounds fab though! Many congrats Alan and Paul.
