Alan Carr has revealed how he practically begged best friend Adele to let him pay for something after she footed the bill for his entire wedding.

The Chatty Man host married his long-term partner Paul Drayton in the grounds of Adele’s Californian home in January.

“I said, ‘Let me pay for something’, and she said, ‘No, I’m paying for the whole thing’,” he recently revealed.

Adele, who is said to be worth £125 million, was also ordained so she could wed the couple, who had been together for ten years before tying the knot.

Posting a picture on Instagram earlier this month, of her standing against a stunning wall of pink roses, Adele, 29, captioned the picture, “Seeing as the cats out the bag, I married two of my best friends in January. You know me any excuse to dress up…@chattyman #loveislove.#

Alan, 41, had previously let slip that Adele had also asked him if he would allow her to plan the entire nuptials.

He said on The One Show, “We’ve known her for ages and when we said we were getting married she said, ‘Can I please plan the whole day for you?’

So she organised everything. She’s the kindest, sweetest, most generous person ever.”

The lavish day included a musician on a grand piano (who sang John Legend’s Ordinary People), and a wall made of roses, similar to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s floral arrangements.

He added, “Then she sang our songs with the first dance, it was absolutely amazing. I can never repay her. She’s a one-off. As we all know, she’s just the best.”

We certainly hope the day itself ran more smoothly than Paul’s 2016 proposal to Alan.

Paul had romantically hidden the ring in Alan’s dessert while on a romantic getaway to Indonesia, and as he tucked into his pudding, Alan thought he had lost a filling.

“I was like, ‘Oh my god, a filling has come out. Just my luck on holiday!'” he joked.

Adele and Alan have been friends since meeting at the Brits in 2008, and the hit maker later appeared on his show to talk about their friendship.

“She comes round my house on a Saturday night to watch The X Factor,” Alan revealed.

“And she brings her dog with her and he poos on the carpet!”
