Adam Thomas reveals why Emmerdale left him he ‘crying like a baby’

Actor will bow out of the show next year

Adam Thomas has finally opened up about his decision to quit Emmerdale – after eight years of being on the show.

After a huge amount of speculation, the 29-year-old actor revealed earlier this year that he would be stepping down from his role as Adam Barton on the ITV soap.

Adam’s final scenes will be aired next year – but the decision to leave a show that has provided him with so many opportunities wasn’t a decision he made lightly…

“I’ve been on the show for eight years and I’ve made some great friends there so it was very emotional,” he’s admitted during an interview with OK! magazine.

And his friends on the soap weren’t going to let him leave without a fuss, either. They made sure they gave him a leaving do that he’ll never forget…

He admitted: “We had a bit of a wrap party and all the cast made a leaving video for me, which made me cry like a baby.”

But don’t be fooled into thinking Adam is going to be spending the new year putting his feet up and relaxing. The actor has just announced that he’s expecting his second baby with wife Caroline Daly.

The couple, who only got married earlier this year, are already parents to three-year-old Teddy…

“We always wanted another baby but we weren’t planning for it to happen so soon after getting married,” Adam admitted.

Adam went on to reveal that the news he was going to be a dad again sent him into a bit of a spin…

“It took me totally by surprise. I have to say, I lost my head a bit over it. I immediately cracked open the gin. I’ve not cried throughout the pregnancy but if I find out we’re having a girl, I will probably cry.”

Despite his family life being pretty full on for the next few years, that doesn’t mean that Adam isn’t planning his next career move.

The actor has revealed that he would love to host his own chat show one day – and following his hugely successful stint on last year’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, where he came third, it seems his dream could become a reality.

But for now Adam’s Christmas looks to be decidedly hectic – he’s currently appearing in the lead role of Jack and and Beanstalk in Newcastle over the festive season.
