Ore Oduba’s wife Portia Jett overcomes ‘first-time mum hurdle’

The couple enjoyed a night out together at the BAFTA TV Awards

| Updated:

Ore Oduba’s wife Portia Jett has shared a beautiful new picture of them with baby son Roman.

The new mum posted the image alongside a message detailing her experience of going out without Roman for the very first time, when she attended the BAFTA TV Awards with Ore.

Former Strictly Come Dancing champion Ore and Portia became parents in January.

The other evening we left Roman for the first time with my mum… Before even getting out the door I felt exhausted, mainly down to the sheer emotions you go through at leaving them, even if it is with your own Mum.. Excitement,.. *woo hoo we are going out, Worry, *have I pumped enough milk? I hope he takes the bottle okay?!( the answer btw to this was yes and yes I pumped enough for a week, I didn’t know how much to leave him!) Sadness, *I’m going to miss him so much, I feel selfish for leaving him and having fun.. And finally stress, just down to the whole leaving him situation.. But,it really does take someone like your mum to tell you to just get out the door and enjoy yourself… !! And we really did..It was so nice to spend quality time with the hubby again, it had been a while since it was just us!! And whilst we did had a brilliant night I did text my mum multiple times to check in. ( yes I know, she has had three children of her own, which she kept reminding me! Lol ) But that’s a normal thing to do right?!! Leaving your baby for the first time is hard but a first time mum hurdle I am pleased I am over!! #nostoppingmenow #mumsoutout #leavingyourbaby #alltheemotions #firsttimemum #justdoit

And Portia has been keeping her social media followers updated on her experiences of motherhood.

In her latest update, Portia told fans how she and Ore had just enjoyed their first night out together without Roman since he was born.

She admitted that, yes, it had been “stressful” but also exciting and she knew Roman was in good hands with her mum – not that it stopped her checking in several times through the night!

She said there was excitement about going out with her husband, but also worry over whether she’d pumped enough milk (which she did) and if Roman would take it.

There was also sadness, she said, writing: “I’m going to miss him so much, I feel selfish for leaving him and having fun..

But Portia said the night turned out brilliantly.

“It really does take someone like your mum to tell you to just get out the door and enjoy yourself,” she said. “And we really did. It was so nice to spend quality time with the hubby again, it had been a while since it was just us!!”

Portia concluded: “And whilst we did had a brilliant night, I did text my mum multiple times to check in. (Yes, I know, she has had three children of her own, which she kept reminding me! Lol ) But that’s a normal thing to do right?!!”
