Weetabix tweet: Piers Morgan tries baked bean combination as recipe goes viral

Heinz and Weetabix need a serious time out

| Updated:

Weetabix has sent the country into meltdown with just a single tweet.

The popular breakfast snack is a staple in homes throughout the UK, however, the brand’s latest suggestion had caused quite the stir.

While some eat theirs with fruit and yoghurt and others with milk, Weetabix has teamed up with Heinz Baked Beans this week for the collaboration absolutely no one asked for.

Weetabix tweeted a picture of the bizarre combination on and chaos quickly ensued.

What did Weetabix tweet?

“Why should bread have all the fun, when there’s Weetabix? Serving up @HeinzUK Beanz on bix for breakfast with a twist. #ItHasToBeHeinz #HaveYouHadYourWeetabix,” said the brand.

The responses came in thick and fast, and it’s safe to say no one was happy.

“We’ve looked. We’re happy to announce you cannot order this anywhere from on our app,” said delivery app Just Eat.

The official NHS account replied: “That tweet should come with a health warning!”

While charity Christian Aid responded: “‘Is there anyone among you who, if your child asks for bread, will give…this?’ Matthew 7:9”.

Iceland even got in on the action, offering shoppers money off when they buy the combination in-store.

What did Piers Morgan do on GMB?

In classic Piers Morgan style, the GMB host decided to get in on the action.

On Wednesday’s show (February 10), he left Susanna Reid horrified when he gave the weird combination a try.

Piers said: “Think about it, it’s just wheat and baked beans. You have it on toast, why wouldn’t you have those two things?”

“It’s different… it’s interesting.” He said. “This might be the new beans on toast.”

Susanna recoiled in disgust as she watched her co-host chow down on the bizarre snack.

Viewers clearly felt the same, with many rushing to Twitter.

“I couldn’t think of anything worse for breakfast – maybe for lunch hungover mind but not breakfast,” hit back one viewer on Twitter.

While a second added: “That looks absolutely disgusting, love beans and I love Weetabix but not like this ffs.”
