The UK’s favourite selection box chocolate revealed as the Malteser Teaser!

Roses' Golden Barrell took the second spot

It’s the decision that can divide families or unite them – do you like the strawberry centred ones? Soft or hard caramel? Or even, dare we mention, the coconut one?!

Chocolate selection boxes come in all shapes and sizes, and everyone has a favourite box and, inside it, their favourite chocolate.

Now, survey General Selection 2019 has analysed some of the top offerings, including Celebrations, Quality Street, Heroes and Roses, to find out the nation’s favourite ever chocolate.

The favourite of the four tubs has been unveiled as Celebrations, which is also best value for money even though one fifth of it is Milky Ways!

Meanwhile, Maltesers Teasers came top of the chocs overall, with 49 per cent of the vote!

But prepare to be disappointed, as there are only eight in a tin!

Roses’ Golden Barrell came second, with Galaxy Caramel, Galaxy, Wispa, Cadbury Dairy Milk Chunk, Twirl and Crunchie Bits all in the top tier.

Lagging in the bottom tier were Quality Street’s Toffee Finger, Chocolate Caramel Brownie, Toffee Penny, Orange Creme and Coconut Eclair being the least favourite chocolate of all.

Despite being unpopular, it’s the fourth most common chocolate in the Quality Street collection – with six in an average tin.

And despite being one of the nation’s top chocs from the Heroes tin, your chances of pulling out a Cadbury Chunk is slim, as there are only four in a tin!

When Brits were asked how the tins could be improved, the top suggestions included classic flavours such as coffee and mint.

There’s also demand for more chocolates available in flavours that already exist in the tins, like nuts, chocolate orange and truffle.

The top 10 most wanted flavours are coffee, mint, salted caramel, white chocolate, truffle, dark chocolate, nuts, praline, chocolate orange and peanut butter.
