Morrisons launches Black Forest Gateau Cookies for Christmas and they are ‘lovely’

White and dark choc chunks and cherries in a chocolate cookie!

| Updated:

Morrisons has unveiled its Christmas cookies and it’s fair to say they sound pretty delicious.

Two of the festive tins have been spotted in store by food blogger Kev’s Snack Reviews.

As a result, the verdict is already in – they’re “lovely”, said one shopper.

The new find has just hit shelves as part of the supermarket’s ‘The Best’ Christmas range.

What flavour are the Morrisons Christmas cookies?

In the picture posted to Instagram, there are two tins of biscuits.

On the left sits Rum & Raison Flavour Cookies.

But it’s the other tin in the picture that’s caused the most stir with Morrisons shoppers.

The Black Forest Gateau Cookies have a chocolate base and are “studded with Belgian white and dark chocolate chunks”.

Not only that, there’s also scrummy cherry pieces embedded in the cookies.

The cookies were on sale in Morrisons last Christmas.

However, this year the tin of the all-butter cookies has been given an oh-so-stylish makeover.

One said: “Had the Black Forest ones last year and they’re lovely.”

Others seemed as if they couldn’t wait to try them as a result of spotting Kev’s picture.

Posting to Instagram, Kev wrote: “New Rum & Raisin and Black Forest Gateau cookies in Morrisons.”

He also added the cookie emoji.

‘Wrong season to diet’

“I bet the Black Forest Gateau ones are yummy,” said one soon-to-be fan, adding the licking lips emoji.

“It’s the wrong season to want to lose weight isn’t it?!” said one cookie monster, tagging their pal.

“I know,” came the wailing reply as all willpower flew out the window.

“Those Black Forest Gateaux ones look insane,” said another tagging their pal.

“Oh lord, I’m on it,” came the reply, as they no doubt dashed out the door to Morrisons’ biscuit aisle.

“Keep me posted with findings and a taste review,” came further instructions.

Others commented giving both the cookies the thumbs up.

What flavour is a Black Forest gateau?

A Black Forest gateau traditionally consists of several layers of chocolate sponge which is sandwiched with whipped cream and cherries.

As Morrisons doesn’t appear to have added cream to the all-butter cookies, we’ll most definitely be serving ours with a huge dollop of the stuff this festive season!
