John Lewis is selling a pork scratchings advent calendar for Christmas

Bigger pieces this year

Vegetarians look away now, as this Christmas novelty won't impress you much.

Department store John Lewis is selling a pork scratchings advent calendar, filled with pieces of crispy pig skin.

Made by The Snaffling Pig Company, the advent calendar has made a return after it sold out last year.

The company says that it has made the pieces of crackling inside and the actual packets bigger.

It also said that it has three different versions available.

Mixed Flavour (which contains 24, 8g packets in Pigs In Blankets, Low & Slow BBQ, Marvellous Maple, Black Pepper, Salt 'N' Vinegar and Perfectly Salted flavour), Gluten Free version (containing 24, 8g packets of gluten-free flavours Perfectly Salted, Low & Slow BBQ and Salt 'N' Vinegar), and the  Pig of Doom version (containing 24, 8g packets of Pig of Doom Super Hot pork crackling).

After the company shared an image on its Instagram fans queued up to respond to the tasty-sounding product.

Ooh love a bit of porky

"Ooh love a bit of porky," one said.

"WOW! Love this!" another screamed.

Lidl is also selling a food-based advent calendar by selling a cheese-filled one.

What's more, at £7.99, it's cheaper than those being sold at Sainsbury's and Asda.

With each door of the Ilchester British Cheese Advent Calendar enclosing a delicious miniature cheese and an equally cheesy joke to match, shoppers will be treated to a variety of makes including Jarlsberg, Double Gloucester, Cheddar.

There's also festive Wensleydale with Cranberries and Gingerbread flavour.

The calendar comes in cheaper than the same ones sold at Sainsbury's (£10) and Asda (£8), and is on sale now - earlier than its counterparts.
