Asda has launched a rival to Marks & Spencer’s iconic Colin the Caterpillar cake.

Roddy the Reindeer is a chocolate log-style cake, not dissimilar to the M&S offering.

However, Roddy comes with a festive twist.

While Colin is topped with Smarties-style sweets, Roddy has a reindeer face complete with red nose, a dusting of icing sugar and is decorated with Christmasssy stars.

And, while the M&S version costs £7, Roddy is £1 cheaper at £6.

Plus he also comes in a dairy and gluten-free version for £6.50.

The blurb revealed: “His long chocolate sponge body is smothered in lip-lickingly delicious chocolate frosting and topped with little white fondant stars.”

We’re expecting Roddy to melt a lot of hearts with his little red nose this year!

It added: “Add an iced face with two cute ears, a smile and a dazzling red nose and he’s ready to steal the show at any festive occasion.”

Asda rep Vicky Philips said: “Christmas is all about fun and novelty – we’ve lived and breathed this to create Roddy.”

The cake has certainly gone down a treat with shoppers so far, with many saying they’ll buy it for their festive dessert.

“Love it and also love the fact it’s dairy free!” said one fan.

“So want this cake,” said another.

A third added: “That’s Christmas Day dessert sorted.”
