Will Young’s outfit causes a commotion on new BBC show Pitch Battle

The singer's eccentric threads were the talk of Twitter!

The BBC launched their latest Saturday night TV singing contest last night, but viewers appeared more interested in the clothes worn by one if its judges than the hackneyed premise of the show.

Mel Giedroyc presented the first episode of Pitch Battle, a brand new talent show based on the film Pitch Perfect in which rival singing groups sing at each other, and was joined by judges Will Young, Kelis and Gareth Malone.

But it wasn’t gorgeous Kelis who had viewers mesmerised by her garb.

It was actually Will Young’s rather strange stage combo that had everyone tweeting like mad.

Even Mel admitted she couldn’t take her eyes off his eye-catching outfit.

“Will, I have got to say, I am obsessed with your outfit – on top we have got Geisha, and on the bottom, Quaker,” she joked.

He replied: “Yes Quaker, culottes, golfer. I was wrapped up in this shirt, it took about 10 minutes.

“I can’t breathe, but I think it looks good.”

His threads really tickled viewers who took to Twitter make pretty much the same comment, with one clever bod comparing the Leave Right Now singer to Kung Fu Panda.

One viewer asked: “What in the name of all that’s holy is Will Young wearing on this show?”

Another wrote:  “Who dressed Will Young. Strange outfit.”

A third wrote: “Why does Will Young look like he’s just come from a karate class?”

While a witty wrier took it home step further: “Why is Will Young dressed as Kung Fu Panda?”

But while many focused on his eccentric styling, fans were very complimentary about his newly dyed blonde hair.

One said: “WTF is Will Young wearing! Love him, hate his fashion sense tho. Liking the blond hair however.”

Pitch Battle continues for the next five weeks in the hope of finding the UK’s best vocal group.

The winner will take home a £50,000 prize.
