Nicole Scherzinger makes a surprise X Factor decision

If you thought a certain diva was set to replace the PussyCat Doll, think again!

When we heard that Mariah Carey was being lined up to replace Nicole Scherzinger on The X Factor, we dug out all her old albums and had a blast on a bottle of Tizer and a bag of sour mix.

Over the weekend, it had been reported that the eccentric and demanding pop diva had been approached to join Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell on the judging panel.

But today, Mariah fans are in for much disappointment as it turns out that Nicole ain’t going anywhere soon!

It had been thought that she would be forced to pull out of the next series due to filming commitments for the big screen version of Wicked

But now it has been reported that Nicole has agreed to return to The X Factor.

According to the Mirror, the singer met up with Simon Cowell over the weekend and has verbally agreed to return to the panel.

Whether Nicole’s decision to stay put came after she heard that Mariah was being courted to appear on the show remains unknown – however, if it was just a ruse, it seems to have worked.

“Last week things weren’t looking good and execs started to look elsewhere for a fourth judge because Nicole didn’t look like committing,” a show source has told the Mirror.

“But there’s been a real change over the weekend and Nicole met Simon – we’re 80% sure she’ll sign on now.

“There may be some clashes in her schedule due to other work, but if we can get these ironed out then she’ll be back on the show next year. Simon is keen to have Nicole back and wants everything signed off as soon as possible.”

Because Nicole is still to sign on the dotted line, a source has said Mariah will remain as a standby for the show.

Not that we reckon she’ll be too pleased she’s being kept on hold until the Pussy Cat Doll decides what she wants to do.
