Holly and Phil ‘save’ abused woman on This Morning

The hosts begged Marie not to marry her fiancé

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield have revealed that This Morning helped save a woman from an abusive relationship.

Marie spoke to the hosts previously, telling them that her fiancé had been violent towards her, and the pair begged her not to go through with it.

It has now been confirmed that Marie has left her abusive partner.

Agony aunt Deirdre Sanders said: “A lot of people were coming to me because they were really worried.

“The good news is Marie has taken very definite steps, she is coming out of that relationship.

“Marie said she recorded the interview and watched it back and thought ‘What am I doing here?’ I must get out.’

“The great thing is we helped Marie really see it for herself and helped her find the courage to take very practical steps to end it.

“I really feel as though she’s been saved from what could have been a dreadful and very risky life.”

Viewers praised the show for helping Marie.

One wrote: “Well done This Morning team!”

Another added: “Thank goodness Marie deserves better.”

Earlier this month, Marie had broken down in tears during her call, as she confessed she was planning to marry her fiancé but was having doubts.

She told the hosts: “He’s been working later, has put a password on his computer and his phone and doesn’t take my calls.”

When asked if she had confronted him, she revealed that he had hit her.

Deidre offered to coach Marie off-camera, and it seems the advice worked.

We are so pleased, well done This Morning!
