So, Gemma Atkinson last week denied she had quit Emmerdale, but her character Carly has just left the village.
Has she? Hasn’t she?
According to the most recent reports, the former Hollyoaks star has jumped the soap ship – and they’ve given a pretty strange reason.
The Sun is alleging that Gemma wasn’t happy about Carly being paired with middle-aged Marlon.
This means lots of kissing scenes with 48-year-old actor Mark Charnock for the 32-year-old.
The tabloid claims her pals have revealed she’d rather the show’s producers had matched her up with a character played by a sexier actor.
This all sounds a little weird, especially as just last week Mark said that he and Gemma had great on- screen chemistry.
‘If you’re in a long-term relationship on screen you’ve got to have that chemistry and trust,” Mark told Lorraine.
The ‘source’ told The Sun: “There’s a load of hunky, young blokes in the show that she would’ve loved to have had a little snog with – but writers have given her Mark.”
They do concede there are other reasons…
“She also wanted to focus on her fledgling Bollywood and radio career anyway, so the time seemed right to pack it in.”
While side can understand why Gemma would want her character to get close to the likes of Danny Miller, Matthew Wolfenden and Michael Parr, she is AN ACTRESS – which means pretending feelings.
We’d be very surprised if there was much substance to this…
