EastEnders cast members tease new summer storyline – and it’s gonna be BIG!

Prepare for a "rollercoaster"

Even the most eternal optimist would have to concede that this year’s British Soap Awards was a disaster for EastEnders.

The long-running BBC soap scooped precisely zero gongs at Saturday’s ceremony except for an award for their scriptwriter Gillian Richmond.

Evidently, it needs something dramatic to reverse its fortunes – and apparently that’s exactly what it’s going to get.

Cast members have teased that show bosses are planning a summer storyline so big, it’s gonna be practically bursting out of the telly.

“I’m excited,” Bonnie Langford (Carmel Kazemi) told Digital Spy at the Awards. “I think it’s one of those storylines that isn’t something quick that just happens as an event.”

“It’s a waterfall effect, I think. Once the rollercoaster begins, it’ll be the place to watch, really.”

Waterfalls? Rollercoasters? We’re intrigued. Perhaps Tilly Keeper (Louise Mitchell) could shed more light on the subject…

“It’s a very big storyline between all of us,” she elaborated (a bit). “We can’t say much, but expect big drama!”

OK, so now we know that all the cast will be involved – but still no one is prepared to let the cat out of the bag and give us all the juicy details.

Or are they? Next up, we had Tameka Empson (Kim Fox): “I’ve heard that I, and all the other cast members, will be involved in something in the summer. Who knows?”

So maybe that’s it – the storyline is so sizzlingly top secret, not even the cast members themselves know what it is.

It seems there’s only one way to find out for ourselves, and that’s by watching the show.

One thing’s for sure – with the new storyline, and the return of Robbie Jackson (Dean Gaffney) later in the year, things are definitely looking up for EastEnders.
